Sitting just east of Downtown, Lafayette Park is a quiet wooded neighborhood sprinkled with Mies van der Rohe buildings and residential towers. The site of the former Black Bottom neighborhood, it’s now among the most stable residential areas in the city and is set to see even more growth. Here’s a look at five developments coming to the neighborhood, as reported by the Detroit Free Press.
Pullman Parc: 149 apartments at 1100 St. Aubin with a projected construction start date between late 2018 and early 2019.
Meijer: Five-story building at 1475 E. Jefferson containing a small Meijer and 213 residential units including 60 studios, 104 one-bedrooms, and 49 two-bedrooms with a projected completion date in fall 2019.
Above the Cut: 160-180 units (roughly half are studios, half are one-bedrooms, and 5% are two-bedrooms), 195-240 parking spaces, and 25,000 to 30,000 square feet of retail and commercial space between 1920 and 1940 Gratiot with a projected completion date of April 2019.
Eastern Market mixed-use project: Six-story project housing 235 units (87 studios, 126 one-bedrooms, 31 two-bedrooms, three three-bedrooms, and six live workspaces) spread across 1314-1388 Gratiot Ave., 2011-2105 Russell St. 1301-1399 Maple St. and 1350-1366 Service St. with a projected completion date of June 2019.
Lafayette West: 374 units (60 for sale and 314 for rent) at 1401 Rivard St. with a projected completion date of April 2019.
