Shinola Hotel Annex and NoHo Hospitality are preparing to open their doors to a new joint venue that is now respectively serving chicken and beer at the end of this month. Did you hear that? The main entrance of Brakeman is located off of John
Instead of starting a tab at this bar, patrons purchase tokens to either pay for one of the eight beers available or for a flight of three. For those uninterested in the art of brews, there will be a separate bar for cocktail drinkers to enjoy. An added plus on the menu? Two rotating frozen cocktails.
Due to the missing element of drunk food on their menu, Penny Red is there to fill the void. Though the location is attached to the beer hall through a door in the back, there is another entrance available for those strictly there for the fried poultry.
To purchase a snack while you enjoy your cold one(s), simply fill out the provided cards at every Brakeman table and drop it off at the order counter in the back. Once your order is ready, your provided buzzer will give you the heads up.
Besides from fried chicken, Penny Red will have chicken sandwich options along with sides that vary from honey butter biscuts, curried carrots, slaw, fries, and pies from favorite Detroit local stop, Sister Pie.
Hoping to bring more excitement around the Shinola Hotel, Luke Ostrom of NoHo and the Shinola Project has expressed his anticipation in building a variety of venues that is suitable for a variety of demographics to the hotel.
