Young Detroit entrepreneur Calvin Gee is on a mission to convert Detroit Motor City, to the next budding location for innovative design. Potentially considered a serial entrepreneur, twenty something year old Calvin has not only started his own venture firm but 9 different companies to follow suit. Among the companies encased under the Insilico name are Graisin Robotics, Friday Healthcare, Ice Cream Detroit, as well as Playlist.
Calvin began his campaign to aide autism after being approached to start a nonprofit organization in high school. Fast forward to 2011, Calvin and his Insilico team begin to develop free applications with the support from the Henry Ford Health System and those affected by autism. Each one of the four applications focus on specific areas of childhood development in categories such as education and resources, sensory and fine motor skills, communication and speech development, and social interaction and engagement. By using these applications, the Insilico team hopes that the application will assist in diagnosing and treating those affected by complexity of the autism spectrum.
In addition to his altruistic work with autism, Calvin went on to extend another helping hand to those entrapped in rural areas without clean water, sustenance, or medicine. The birth of Graisin Robotics has safeguarded the long and tumultuous journey to retrieve these basic human needs. In some of these unattainable areas, women will walk 3.7 miles a day to retrieve water. After spending time in Africa and visiting orphanages, Calvin and his team set forth to become the “evolved solution” for the obstacles that affect the basic structure of a customary day to day life.
Project Wishing Well, Graisin Robotics’ philanthropic mission, gives the company the opportunity to direct their efforts in diminishing the time and effort put into securing sources from other contributors such as Charity Water. With the assistance of their autonomous vehicle, the journey for water will be reduced tremendously, granting those an opportunity to focus on other areas of their daily lives such as dream chasing and attending school.
Currently, another one of Calvin’s sweetest focus, is no other than Ice Cream Detroit. Currently working in collaboration with Red Dunn Kitchen in Detroit, Calvin has brought alcoholic (and nonalcoholic) ice cream for all dessert connoisseurs to relish. Their collaborative dishes, mixed with both innovative pairings of entree foods and a scoop of their gourmet, freshly made, and in-house churned ice cream brings astonishment to each participant willing to get a buzz while enjoying a meal. To check out this meal plan for yourself, make sure to give Red Dunn Kitchen a call to book your table!
